3 Travel Blogs I am currently reading

If you are a regular on this blog, you may already know that I love pretty much anything travel-related, but what you may not know is that I also like to read other travel (and lifestyle) blogs. Actually, and in all honesty, until I found other blogs that shared the same passion for travel, I felt a bit lost and in certain moments I almost ended this blog.
I find travel blogs super useful when I am planning my own trips, so, if you are reading this and are a travel blogger: Thank you!!

All three blogs I will mention on this post, are the ones I have been reading more frequently and I totally recommend you go check them out.

The Navigation

Ever since I found Nele’s blog, The Navigatio, I have been hooked! Really, I became a fan of her way of communicating her travel experiences and fantastic travel guides.

I particularly like how clear Nele can share useful information that all of us search while planning a trip. Her Japan Guides are going to be super useful when, I finally, go visit Japan. It was meant to be this May but Covid19 came by and messed up the plans…

In Nele’s words:

I’m Nele (Nay-la), a 24-year-old Dutch expat who loves traveling (I mean, what millennial doesn’t?), writing and photography. Combine the three with my slight coffee addiction and you’ve got yourself a travel blog, right?

I guess Nele and I are twins! 😅

Escape with Sarah

Sarah has a very nice travel blog, Escape with Sarah, which also covers other topics, such as working from home tips and fashion; a good fusion between lifestyle posts and travel.
I got to know Sarah’s blog via Twitter when an account reshared a 1-day guide to Amsterdam

In Sarah’s words:

Travelling has always been a dream of mine and I was fortunate enough to live in Thailand for 20 months of my life, exploring and having fun!
Don’t we all want to explore and have fun?! I sure do! haha

Let’s Go Somewhere Else

I never really thought of going to Switzerland, probably because I think it’s super expensive and cold (forgive me if you are Swiss and I’m saying something silly), but when I found Kirstin’s blog, Let’s Go Somewhere Else, and read her posts about her travels in Switzerland, I automatically added it to my to-go list. As if I didn’t have enough items on it yet… haha
This is the beauty of travel blogs, my friends!

In Kirstin’s words:

My name is Kirstin (…) solo traveler who knows what it’s like to want to travel so much but unable to quit the 9-5! Let’s Go Somewhere Else covers destinations on a budget (and within work holiday allowance), Hotel and Restaurant reviews, journaling tips and much more!

If this doesn’t sound familiar to most of us, then I don’t know… haha

Travel blogs vs Instagram Travel Accounts

In my opinion, a travel Instagram account does not replace a travel blog, and that’s mostly because most people do not take the time to read long captions on Instagram photos.
So, for those who like to share more information about travel, besides just photos, a travel blog is always a good idea.

But what do I look for on a travel blog?

– To the point posts: a clear way of communication is the best way to share information, in my opinion.
– Personal experience and honest opinions.
– Practical suggestions, like how to get to places or where to go for a meal, for example.
– And of course good photo quality.
When you can have all these ingredients and you share your passion for travel, in my opinion, you have a great blog/website.

These are also my guidelines when I write travel posts, even though I think I still have a long way to go. But hey, we got time, don’t we? haha
