Pelos caminhos de Portugal - part 5 - Guimarães

Hello!!! 🙂 Shall we continue with visiting the North of Portugal? I don’t take no for answer… 😀On the menu for today, as you could see for the title of this post, I have Guimarães ready for you!Guimarães is a very important city in Portugal as it dates back from the 10th century and is recognized as the cradle of the nation and Portuguese identity. See, quite a big deal, hum?As you will see in some of the pictures below, the Historic Center is so well preserved that it has been certified as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO back in 2001.The feeling we had while walking around Guimarães is that we were being transported to another Era, as everything was so nicely preserved. When we visited the Castle, for a moment I had some Game of Thrones scenes going through my mind… #IamaGoTFanThese pictures are just a little summary of the spots we visited on our first day in town. For the 2nd day, I will write a different post, or else you will get a picture overdose, and we don’t want that, right?Oh, the food over there is delicious!!
