During my last trip to Portugal, I had the fantastic opportunity to see one of my old time favorite artist playing live.
Wait, I should rephrase this sentence.
I went to Portugal to see one of my old time favorite artists.
You may wonder why just like I would if I would be you. haha
But before I get to that, let me start from the beginning (convenient, I’d say…).
Ever since Prince (another favorite of mine) died, I have this urge of not letting an opportunity pass of seeing any of my favorite artists. But like, none!
Back in the day, I’d sometimes think “oh, well, now it’s not convenient. I’ll see it another time”.
Back in the day, I’d sometimes think “oh, well, now it’s not convenient. I’ll see it another time”.
But that implies two things:
- The artist/band is immortal or won’t ever quit.
- There will be another time (which is related to 1).
Now, we all know that’s just not the case, no matter which artist/band you may think of. But I, and I believe many of us, think that those we like will last forever. And sometimes, they just don’t.
Sometimes, the band quits, unexpectedly, or the artist just dies.
That’s what I had with Prince.
Now fast forward to December 2017.
Another of my all-time favorites, Mr. Kravitz (Lenny, you know?), announced a European summer tour and after skipping previous shows of his, this time, I wasn’t letting that happen.
And I also knew someone else who (hi, mom!!) would love to see him live as well, but if I wouldn’t take the step she would not go.
It was perhaps one of the best decisions I made regarding watching a live show.
Another fast forward to July 1st, 2018.
The day had finally come!!!
It started off great; Spain had also been eliminated from the World Cup (sorry, couldn’t let this one out! haha).
I was more than ready to finally see Lenny Kravitz live at the biggest indoor arena of Lisbon (probably of Portugal, but I’m not 100% sure of that).
I should add, that it was also my first time at this arena, nowadays called Altice Arena (one of 102654 names it has had since its inauguration).
Not only I met really nice people at the show, but I also had an AMAZING time. Yes, I have to put it in caps lock and bold, otherwise, I simply don’t know how to make it clear enough, haha.
Lenny played many of his classics along with 2 new songs that should be released in his upcoming album, as far as I understood.
I sang my lungs out, jumped, danced, laughed and knew that my +1 was having an amazing time as well.
Now, let me tell you the cherry on top of the cake.
While playing “Let Love Rule” in an extended “blues-like” version, Lenny decided to come off stage and walk through the crowd…
There were about 20k people over there, and I and my +1 were standing in the Golden area (a delimited area closer to the stage).
Never in my wildest dreams, I imagined him doing so, let alone, realizing he was going through the whole area. To the point, I found myself staring at Lenny Kravitz, holding my phone in one hand, but my only 1 brain cell working didn’t know what to do… and just froze!
Yes, I had forgotten to switch on my phone’s camera and capture this unbelievable moment!
Please, take a moment to feel my frustration…
I saw Lenny Kravitz walk by my side, looked him in the eyes and the only thing I could do was… nothing!
YAY!!!
It may sound hilarious, and it is, but only after 10 seconds (or something) I had come to my senses again.
What did I do?? I started shouting “Oh my GOD!!!”… for about 1 to 2 minutes. It felt a lot more…
The show was amazing even without this “fan-girl moment” but if you take this into account, I must be honest: it was by far one of the best shows I have been too!
Shall I just add that my +1 got to actually touch his arm? If you thought I was the only one shouting “OMG”, you were wrong! haha
If you get the chance to catch any of Lenny Kravitz’s show, you will be in for a treat!
What a musician!!!
Oh, and not to forget that his band is also very good!!!

Thank you sweet. It was really a great show. I will not forget.
(Just missing that picture to immortalize the moment Lenny was just in front of me touching my arm, OMG, hehehe)
