For today’s “Meet the blogger”, my guests are a fellow Portuguese couple, Alexandra & Vitor from Vens ou Ficas? blog! Please introduce yourselves and tell us a bit about you.
Hello everyone! We are a Portuguese couple (Alexandra & Vitor) from Lisbon and we have a travel blog called Vens ou Ficas?.
Alexandra is 23 years old and Vitor is 24 years old. We started dating at college when we were taking our Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Since then, and it passed already 5 years, traveling the world has become even more special because now we do it together. It’s a perfect match!
If you see our blog and social media you will see that we love photography, adventure, natural landscapes, food, and our beautiful country – Portugal! We are true patriots of our nation.
Why did you start a travel blog?
The idea of creating a travel blog started after our InterRail trip in 2017. In 25 days we and 3 more friends visited 10 countries in Europe. Therefore we had a lot of content to post and experiences to share with everyone. First, the travel blog started just as a hobby and a way to review our trips, but in 2020 it became even more real. Due to the pandemic situation and the lockdown we had more time to create a professional website by ourselves. It took 8 months of work to reveal the final result but we are very proud. Even on Instagram, we have already more than 4k followers. The inauguration of our travel blog was on December 26th, right after Christmas. Isn’t it an excellent Christmas gift for everyone? hehe 😀
What was your favorite trip so far?
We do not have a favorite trip because every destination was good in many different ways. But since we have to choose one, we will say the most recent one to Maceió (Brazil), on October 2nd of 2020. Besides being during the pandemic situation, we loved it. Why? Because we were not expecting it.
Alexandra decided to join a social media contest and the prize was free roundtrip tickets to Maceió. Guess what… Alexandra won the contest hahaha So we had to plan the entire trip (7 days) and flew just in 48 hours. It was crazy but everything went as we planned. Maceió has incredible beaches and other magnificent sights to visit.
Share with us your favorite post you ever wrote and tell us why.
So far our favorite and best post is about Morocco. Since we did a road trip of 10 days around Morocco we have a lot of things to say. We passed by Casablanca, Marrakesh, Ouarzazate, Sahara Desert, Meknès, Chefchaouen, and Fez. We had some amazing days in Morroco but also some bad experiences, so despite creating articles saying “the must doo’s in each city” we also created an article regarding the scams that can happen there.
How did the Covid19 pandemic affect you and your travel plans?
Actually, 2020 was a year with a lot of trips for us. We spent New Year’s in Denmark + Sweden and then we lived for 3 months in San Francisco (Califórnia). After the lockdown we visited several places in Portugal, such as Lagos, Monsaraz, Évora, Lisboa, Sintra, Guimarães, Gerês, etc ..) and finally the trip to Brazil.
The only travel plan for 2020 that we had to postpone was a cruise trip for September at the Mediterranean Sea.
Where would you like to go once traveling is resumed and there are no restrictions?
We try to not overthink that question. For now, we are more concerned with our health, family, and jobs. Our only wish for this year is to be able to go on the cruise trip that we postponed, however this time it will happen in Northern Europe (Germany, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, and Russia). We hope that in June things will be a lot better and without restrictions, but it is still uncertain.
If they say “Covid is over, you can finally travel the world” we would probably choose Dubai as the next trip. We visited Dubai in 2017 but we want to return because the city has so many new things to visit and do.
Last but not least: what is your dream trip/destination?
Hahaha, it’s a difficult question because we have a lot of destinations on our wish list. We basically want to visit the entire world.
Alexandra wants to visit London, New York, Australia, and Cuba.
Vitor wants to visit Southeast Asia, Iceland, and Tanzania.
If we had to choose one destination in common we would choose Hong Kong.
