Hello!!!
On today’s post, I thought it would be nice to show you another beautiful town of the Netherlands. And as always, I had a very hard time selecting the photos to share with you; I blame it on this town’s beauty!
Seriously, I never expected Zwolle to be like this.
Zwolle is located in the northeast of the Netherlands and is the capital of the province Overijssel (thank God I don’t need to pronounce this…). Overijssel stands for “across the IJssel” which is a river in the Netherlands.
For me, it was about 2,5h drive, but you can easily reach Zwolle by train; if there is one thing that the Dutch are good at is having a nice public transportation network. The railway system is great (many Dutch people will disagree with me – they always complain about delays and stuff…), especially compared to Portugal!
I went there to go visit some friends who had just had a little baby boy (cutest thing ever!!!), but you know me by now, and I couldn’t say no to a nice opportunity to go and snap some shots around Zwolle.
Me and my beloved Sony a6000, were ready to go.
Oh, I also made sure to let the Mr.A know that I wanted to photograph; in man’s language that translates to “I need time to walk around; will stop several times, and you need to be patient”.
Mr.A if you’re reading this: thanks for the patience!!
Anyway, let me stop babbling and show you a bit of Zwolle.
At the end of this post, there will be some more info & links about how to get to Zwolle and all that good stuff.
Let’s go!
The old town of Zwolle is surrounded by water – the “stadsgracht” – which I found very charming. It also gives you the perfect spots to chill during a nice sunset.
Did someone say “bikes everywhere”?
The Dutch love to sit on a terrace table, have a nice drink while enjoying the beautiful weather.
I was fascinated by this building!!!
Now, tell me: aren’t you curious about Zwolle?? I know you are…
We had the perfect weather; it was nice yet not blistering hot, and there were some clouds which always make the pictures more beautiful, in my opinion.
How to get to Zwolle:
I recommend you take the train. Visit ns.nl to plan your journey and buy your tickets.
The closest airport is in Amsterdam – Schiphol.
Where to eat:
There are several nice restaurants in Zwolle; but since we were visiting friends, we had a marvelous barbeque at their place.
