Hello
A couple of weeks ago, I showed on this post some of the first sights of Leiden, in the Netherlands, and today, I thought it was about time to continue. This beautiful city is located in the South-Holland province, just about 36km away from the well known Amsterdam.
Like I wrote on Part 1, I knew Leiden would become one of my favorite spots in the country. Let me show you why:
Visiting Leiden (NL) part 2
A photo guide of this beautiful city in the Netherlands
After Amsterdam, Leiden is the second city in the Netherlands with more canals and they are a delight for the eyes.
Where to eat:
The only dinner we had in town, we decided to do it at Annie’s and mostly due to its beautiful location, overlooking the split of the De Rijn in two: the Oude Rijn and the Nieuwe Rijn.
Our timing was perfect as we could enjoy a beautiful sunset while having our meal. Totally recommend!
How the sky looked like after we were finished with our dinner. Love it!
Then, we took a nice walk through the old city, while I tried to practice night time long exposure shots… I must admit: I loved the result!
And then we were so tired of walking that it was time to head back to our hotel (the Ibis, right in front of the train station as mentioned in part 1).
The next morning, we enjoyed a lovely breakest at Bagels & Beans (bagels fans over here!!), before going on a boat trip through the canals.
Sunny Sunday morning made it even a nicer experience.
For 10euros, you can enjoy a 1h boat ride; a must do if I may say so.
All in all, I think Leiden is a fantastic city for a weekend break, with a great vibe, beautiful sights, many historical buildings, and cultural sights to visit.
I, of course, was super happy to know that one of my idols had lived there and walked the same streets I did; who am I talking about? No other than Albert Einstein!
Hope you liked these two posts; from my side, it was lovely to share it with you.
