Hello!
It was early December when I last visit beautiful Lisbon, and it felt so good to be back home! But visiting Lisbon in December comes “with a cherry on top”: the Christmas decorations are up!!
Ohhh, I love to go stroll through the streets and check out the lights and see what do they have new.
I was very happy that the day I had time to go and check them out, they were already being lit. However, not everything was done and I had very limited time, so in the end, I did not see as much as I wished. So, in today’s post, I’ll be sharing the decorations I had the chance to see.
Christmas Decorations in Lisbon
Rua Augusta
Lovely illuminated by these flower-like lights, Rua Augusta is like a Christmas rainbow. But in a good way; these lights are slowly transitioning between all colors, in a nice peaceful way.
I liked the vie and the idea; it makes you feel like you have a rainbow Christmas roof above you.
Does that make any sense? haha

Rua Augusta |
Chiado
Mandatory stop! Chiado’s decor is so charming and a true eye-catcher. there is a light show going on on the Christmas tree hanging on the building’s facade, very enchanting. I was standing there for a good 10 minutes just enjoying it and feeling relaxed.
Of course, I took a ton of photos, hahaha, but yet, it was very relaxing.

Isn’t she lovely??

Largo do Chiado
Right across the subway exit, there is this gorgeous building, which I show you just its door, but it’s fully decorated in red and gold tones with many lights.
Loved it!!!
And felt upset to left my wide-angle lens at home…

Largo do Chiado |
Rua Serpa Pinto
This street leads to/goes from the Chiado shopping area, and during this month it will be known as Hot Air Balloons street.
In all honesty, I have no idea if this is new or if it looks like this every year; but even if it isn’t new, it’s really cute and they should do it again next year! ^_^

Rua do Áurea (Rua do Ouro)
The tour was slowly approaching the end, and we got back to Baixa, and this time to check out Rua do Ouro’s decorations.
The building on the left is a bank and looked really nice with all the decorations, a bit more on the traditional side, yet charming.

Rua Áurea |
How many times have I used the word charming so far? Anyone counting? haha
Rua da Prata
On the other side of Rua Augusta, there is Rua da Prata, one of my favorite streets downtown; super chilled and not so crazy packed.
With simple, yet very nice light decorations, I was happy to capture it, even if from a distance.

Rua da Prata |
Praça do Comércio
And of course, this little tour had to end at Praça do Comércio, where they have this really tall Christmas tree.
No matter how many times I’ve seen it, I cannot leave Lisbon, during Christmas time, without going to visit it at least once.
I simply love all the lights and how it makes such a big square feel so much cozier.

It is the perfect Insta-friendy background.
Places I recommend visiting but didn’t this time
Unfortunately, as I mentioned earlier, my time was limited and I could not see all I wished.
Should my schedule not be so tight and I would have gone see the Christmas decorations and markets at these locations:
– Largo Camões (decor only)
– Rossio (decor and market)
– Praça da Figueira (market)
– Avenida da Liberdade (market)
– Winter Wonderland at Parque Eduardo VII

I hope you have liked this post and if you have the chance, go check out the Christmas decorations in
Lisbon. Totally worth it!
How do the decorations look like where you live?
Let me know in the comments; I’d love to know it.
See you soon!
